The great thing about a new year is you get to start again. The past year has been exhausting but we are gathering a big deep breath and getting ready start anew. We have never been able to control governments, regulations, laws, communities, or families but…
There are 119 girls who have had a safe space to start healing and recover from the trauma of surviving human trafficking and sexual exploitation. 119 girls who we have supported, counselled, educated and loved. Together we really have changed lives!
In 2017 we shared the story of how Leng* got into Law School and SHE IS GOING TO GRADUATE IN SEPTEMBER THIS YEAR!
It is now five years later we have four more girls who have graduated grade 12 and are ready to go to university. Yes – You read that correctly! In the midst of a pandemic with schools only online for six months, four girls rescued from human trafficking and exploitation graduated from HIGH SCHOOL!!
These four girls arrived in the Rescue Home back in 2008 – 2010. They have been through our safe home and reintegration program. They have all worked very hard to to pass all of their subject and we are so proud of their achievements. They all have big dreams and we want to help them come true.
Why we need your help: We want to create a scholarship fund for these girls so they can attend the university courses they have already been accepted into. This will be extra funding on top of what we need to run our SHE RESCUE HOME and reintegration programs. Each girl’s degree costs approx. $1000 a year (for four years.) We are also looking for an extra $1000 each so they can purchase a laptop, textbooks and other course needs.
