ABOUT Saray*

Saray* was feeling sick so her grandmother arranged for the village doctor visit. The doctor took advantage of his trusted position to sexual exploit Saray* while her grandmother was cooking lunch for her and her sibling. The doctor continued to groom and abuse Saray* at his practice/home, keeping her quiet with gifts of money and food as well as threats. Her grandmother noticed a change in Saray* and she eventually told her what was being done to her. Her grandmother reported it to the authorities. There is still an ongoing investigation into the extend, scope and any accomplices in the community of the doctors abuses.

Saray* was welcomed to the home with a trip to the beach so she could eat her favourite food - crab. She enjoys playing any sport with a ball. She doesn’t know what she wants to do in the future but she is glad to be going to school.

Saray’S* FAMILY

Saray’s* parents live and work in the city while their children live with their grandmother in the provinces. They send money home to the family each month. Saray* has a younger brother and sister who are still living with the their grandmother. The investigating police think the family are safe to stay in the community but we have a safety plan in place.

Saray’S* FUTURE

Saray* will stay at the SHE Rescue Home while she heals until her court case is finished. She has started classes at her new school and is also taking english classes at the SHE Rescue Home. Her counsellor will make sure she has all the support she needs to heal and her social worker will work with her family to ensure their home is a safe option for future reintegration.
