Have you ever wondered how girls come into the SHE Rescue Home?

We never get a lot of notice when a new girl is going to come into the SHE Rescue Home. Sometimes we get a day or two notice; Sometimes it is only a few hours.

It all starts with a phone call.

We get phone calls from government organisations, other NGO’s and charities, and our partner organisations when girls have been rescued from sexual exploitation. Sexual exploitation covers a large range of horrific violations perpetrated against these young girls. We accept girls into our care who are classified in these 5 categories.

Girls that have been rescued by other anti-trafficking organisations within Cambodia as part of their investigations into human trafficking in Cambodia.

Girls, where their families have tried to sell their daughters for financial gain or been tricked with lies about better opportunities for their daughters future. We have also seen increased cases of child brides being sold to China from Cambodia.

Girls who have been raped (there has been a noticeable increase in the rape of young children, particularly 6-12 year olds who are many times raped by boys who are minors themselves).

Girls in prostitution, who have been deceived about the work they would be doing and are working against their own will being managed by a pimp or trafficker, potentially enduring harsh control mechanisms such as abuse or violence.

In recent years, prevention and education in poor rural areas has been a priority in other organizations working within Cambodia.

Our high security home is where these girls may find healing, wholeness, support, love, and reclaim a sense of childlike innocence.
